Located in Jalan Sultan Ismail, Kuala Lumpur, Sheraton Imperial Hotel, a 5-star hotel, lives up to its years of  refined standards when it comes to international cuisines. Of the many classy restaurants that the Sheraton houses, the Villa Danielli specializes in Italian Cuisine.
You can read my previous post about Ruffino Dinner here.

Creamed Cod and Cauliflower Mash and Crispy Salted Cod Chips paired with Remole Bianco (Vermentino&Tribiano)2012

I must say this amuse bouche was divine. I love how potent the cod fish tasted despite being served in a bite-sized portion. The mashed cauliflower contributed a thick, but silky smooth texture to it, it was overall a salty dish, so it pairs very well with the full-flavored young and sweet Chardonnay .

Next came the Rosemary smoked salmon and beetroot mille foille,with ash sauce and sour cream;
Burrata and extra virgin olive oil mousse, Mediterranean vegetables and raw tuna salsa.
Both were paired with Pomino bianco (Chardonnay & Pinot Bianco) 2011 , which is comparatively a lighter and full-flavored wine. It literally helps the wine mate with the flavors in the fish .

Potato and Mascarpone Ravioli with Light Pepper Goat Cheese Fondue and Crispy Cured Beef Ham paired with Tenuta Di castiglioni IGT 2009

The ravioli has a very rich, creamy taste that comes along with a distinctive cheese pungency ,this definitely needs a wine which can cut through the dominating richness of the sauce, in the case the Tenuta Di castiglioni IGT did.

I love how the aroma of the goat cheese fondue fills the nasal cavity with its richness when it was placed in front of me.  The texture of the pasta is just right as it is neither too soft nor too hard. The cured beef ham sprinkled atop also adds another dimension of flavors to the dish too. This traditional Italian dish has caught my attention the whole evening among other dishes.

Pan Roast Lamb Rump with Thyme Pumpkin Puree and Sauteed Asparagus and Citrus Glazed Lamb Jus paired with Castelgiocond Brunello Di Montalcino DOCG 2005

Not long after that,we proceeded to our main course. The lamb rump is well executed in extreme precision. It is well cooked and the meat is tender. It taste remarkable when paired with the
Brunello Di Montalcino DOCG 2005 as the lamb protein and fats softens up the wine's acidity and mouth-drying tannis. This also sets up the tongue for the wine's fruity taste to complement the flavors of the lamb.

As you sink your teeth into it, you can taste the 'juice' toying with your taste buds. However, personally, I find the meat a tad chewy. I wouldn't say its leathery but..slightly chewy! But overall, this is a definite recommendation from me.

Lastly, we ended our dinner withsome desserts - Small Pears and Custard Cream Sable Pie with Frozen Yogurt Mousse paired with Illyquore coffee Liqueur.

The Sable Pie has a relatively soft texture as it crumbles under the slightest pressure in your mouth. Its sweet and the custard cream is obvious and rich.  The Frozen Yogurt Mousse isn't that sweet! Its smooth and cool body provides a refreshing feel. Truly a great dessert!

The dessert is very well balanced with the Illyquore coffee Liqueur . It is a mixture of coffee and wine. Both elements have a
 50-50 ratio in this particular liquor and one did not overpowered another.
 On the first sip, the sweetness emerges and fades steadily , then the bitter taste of the coffee creeps onto the taste buds, leaving a bittersweet aftertaste.
