The Chulo Bar &Restaurant @ Jaya One

Strategically situated inside Jaya One, a food lovers heaven , Chulo Bar &Restaurant offers more than just wines and beers. They serve mainly Western cuisine - Spaghetti, Pizza, Lamb/Chicken Chops and desserts.

Chulo is slightly different from other restaurants, they have their own color theme, which is blue. It reminds me of the song - Blue(I'm blue Da Ba Dee Da Ba Ba~*(sings) )
That aside, they actually allow indoor smoking (though I have no objection, but it might cause the non-smokers to have an uncomfortable dining environment because I personally found that there is lacking of air ventilation indoor)

Anyway, for those who prefer al-fresco dining, they can proceed upstairs to Chulo's rooftop dining area. If they are lucky enough, they might get a chance to dine under a clear sky decorated with stars and moon, and at the same time enjoy the night breeze too!

Grilled Butterfish Fillet RM27.80
Fillet fish grilled to medium, served on a bed of fresh, fine veggies and citrus butter sauce.

Smoked Duck Breast RM16.80

Their apple wood smoked Duck Breast served bouquet of salad with Spicy Mango Salsa was simply refreshing. I love how they bring out the contrast flavor of the salty smoked duck and the sweet and delighting mango fruit. The overall dish was then balanced with some crunchy lettuce.

Chulo Wings  RM14.80 ; Tempura Prawns

The most memorable dish that night was the Chulo Wings. I love them tossed in the citrusy chili lime. The properly fine tuned garlic flavor also adds another dimension of flavor to this dish. The combination of sweet, sour and spicy-kick indeed brought them into another whole new level compare to those ordinary grilled chicken wings with just plain honey.
The tempura prawns was alright and it does not comes crunchy, but the thousand island coating certainly did cover up a bit of their flaws.

Mushroom Cappuccino Soup

Crème of Broccoli Soup

Albeit both of the soups were slightly salty, the overall taste was not that bad. Both soups were also thick and rich and I can assure you, they can fill you up quite fast.
Grilled butterfish with Seafood , served with mash potatoes.

A must-order item if you are a seafood lover. This dish need not any elaboration, they speak for themselves. Everything on the plate was fresh and mouth-watering.
Meatloaf
I was not very impress with their meatloaf as I found that it was slightly too dry and the meat has a tiny amount of rancid taste in it.

Rack of Lamb

This is one of the signature dish in Chulo. The succulent cut of New Zealand Air Flown rack of lamb is paired with crispy and thinly strip of deep-fry potatoes, blanched carrot and broccoli , accompanied by caramelized onion and flood with  thyme red wine jus.

Seafood Paella  ; Lamb Chop RM23.80

A delectable Spanish baked rice with prawns, mussels, squid, fish fillet braised with tomato stew and fava beans. Everything was within the acceptable range, I love the variety of seafood in this particular dish, but it would be perfect if chef reduce the salt amount in it.
The New Zealand lamb chop is served with potato wedges with seasonal vegetables &drizzle with rosemary reduction (almost similar with the Rack of Lamb, just different side dishes -  wedges &applesauce).

Tiramisu Cake &Chocolate Lava Cake.

A meal is never complete without dessert, also your diet-wrecker, I personally love the lava cake most as it was not too sweet nor bitter.

A gentle reminder for the ladies, 'A moment on your lips, forever on the hips', so do not go overboard with the desserts , though it is quite tough to hold back the temptation ...let the guys do their job and finish'em for you. *winks*
