Burger Junkyard@ Kota Damansara, PJ

If you have yet to try out the burgers from  My Burger Lab  because of the constant hype and crowds that is flooding in the shop, or you have totally no spare time to queue before the shop is opened, then glad tidings, Burger Junkyard is here to the rescue!

Although this shop might seem a little too empty for the eyes , but I promise, the burger will make you think otherwise. Another reason is because I was here 6pm sharp , where their business hour starts punctually. . . which means I am the first walk-in customer! (No, I don't get a free upgrade for my burgers.... )

Thank you KC for bringing me here! ;D

I love the junkyard concept, which actually seem more like a 'friendly' hooligan hideout . Creative graffiti , orange-hued lighting, cubic box stacking up together as the seat, and every little things hanging on the side of the wall.

So I went straight up to the counter, not knowing what I would order, so I stared at the menu board above for a moment. The friendly staff politely asked me what type of meats do I prefer (beef of chicken) and suggested me to have the Volcano burger (which is the mystery burger for the week). He was kind enough to let us have a sample of the sauce before placing down our order because KC was wondering how spicy is the sauce. I've tasted the sauce alone and the level of spiciness is just nice for me, so I nodded. We ordered a total of 3 burgers for sharing. . .

and they gave us this cute little mascot with a tag number . They will send us our order by refering to the number. Nice one, we have people to serve us, unlike burger lab which is self-service.

Here's my Mystery Burger , namely Volcano Burger which cost RM14.90. Every set of burger comes with fries , with no additional charges .

The mystery burger consist of onion, fry egg, mysterious sauce , which is pretty much habanero, jalapeno, dried chili and chili,  and a juicy chicken thigh , all on a sesame seed bun. The skin-on chicken  possesses an impressive flavor and juiciness even after grilling,  nachos were added to give the burger an extra crunch, and I can literally tell that the bun was fresh and fluffy .

The complementary fries are of the slim, long, skin-on , hand-cut variety, with an ultra-crisp crunch and steamy , fluffy, potato-y interiors, they are truly stellar,  particularly dipped into the default brown sauce, or better yet into their secret sauce- garlic aioli .

Man,  the aioli was abso-effking-lutely delicious...
The garlic aioli sauce does not come free though, you need to fork out extra RM0.60 for this , but trust me, you will get hooked and one is probably never enough for you to finish your fries.

Or you can order the Tomato Concasse sauce if you prefer a lighter and refreshing condiments. I still prefer my aioli.

So this is what a volcanic burger looks like.  Nicely stacked, full of flavor, laden with sauce, scrambled egg, juicy chicken thigh, onions and all the capsaicin flavor... Every element merged so nicely in one. Even though it was a mess to eat, but every massive chomp I've made was a bliss. The level of spiciness of the 'volcanic sauce' was not unbearable ,though it has a very potent chili , habanero and jalapeno flavor . The spiciness climbs up slowly, and you can feel the very mild tingling sensation on the tongue but it subsided very quickly.

KC order the Mango Wazapp-bi Chicken which cost RM14.90. We ordered the 90 grams patty  for the Volcano and Wazzap-Bi because we have ordered another 180grams Beef burger to share. *raise eyebrow* . I know right, my appetite is expanding so does my size.

Personally, I love the distinct mango flavor in the burger but the wasabi flavor was merely detectable. The highlight of the burger would be the steamed cheese which is completely intact with the buns and the chicken , with no sign of its existence yet a burger a said to be incomplete if it is absent. So what makes their cheese so special that they came out with their tagline ''Melting Your Way''?
Photo: Why is our tagline "Melting Your Way"?

What makes our cheese is so special?

We steam a certain ratio of Pressed Cheddar, Processed Sharp Cheddar and Smoked Mozzarella together. Through the steaming process, moisture is preserved instead of evaporated like in conventional cheese melting techniques, thus the body and flavour of the cheese is preserved. Upon serving, the cheese is poured onto the burger and sets by the time it arrives on your table!

Through the steaming process, moisture is preserved instead of evaporated, thus the body and flavor of the cheese is preserved. Perfect fluffy and airy bun, fresh sliced tomatoes, lettuce, sausage, chicken thigh and mango wasabi sauce. I really love the creative combination of this particular burger and it is listed in my recommended list.

Balsamic Beefin Onion. (Regular) RM19.90

The 180grams meat patty was thick, beautifully shaped and hangs off the bottom bun, with flame-kissed grill marks on its exterior. The burger was paired along with caramelized onion, romaine, and beet root. The cheese on top melted over the beef, and I think the cheese given was a little too stingy compared to the previous two burgers.

Anyway, back to the burger. The patty sports an impressive charred edge, which comes along with some really really great charred flavor and when it is paired together with the sweet-crunchy beetroot, heavenly.

Oh, did I forgot to mentioned that KC add another runny egg for the beefin onion burger?
The sunny side egg was done to perfection, cooked whites with runny yolks in the center, drizzle with some dark sauce . It just adds a lot of flavors, textures and moisture to the burger. . . I am totally speechless with delight .

Look at that bloody thick patty stained with yolks running down the from the top, it literally makes your mouth waters as you continue to stare at my pictures.
The burger was undoubtedly awesome at the first bite but I was already 90% stuffed in the end so the enjoyment of eating this burger gradually decrease down the time.

If you ask me to choose between Burger Lab and Burger Junkyard, I would definitely choose Burger Junkyard because I think both serve equally fine and delicious burger, the winning point for Junkyard is you don't have to queue or wait for an hour for your burger to be ready, yet you get the same satisfaction as burger lab.

    1. Nice place, inexpensive... Strange choice of names though - junkyard for throwing away junk, all the rubbish...and the word "junk" equates junk food, not very flattering for a place selling burgers (maybe that's why business not all that great) and the other one's a lab - like experiments for white mice and guinea pigs.
