That's why health experts out there are trying to drill it into your head how important it is for you to keep that water bottle by your side.
In this article, I am going to take you through the 8 health benefits of drinking water.
It's not easy compiling this list given that water, or rather the lack of it, has got far reaching consequences on the body. However, I've picked the scariest ones possible so you think twice before going thirsty and thinking nothing about it again  .

1) Prevents Arthritis, lower back pain , Rheumatoid & Joint Pain

Rickety bones and painful joints aren't just an indication of old age. It also signals to the lack of water in the body. In fact, did you know that those nasty lower back pains that prevent you from romping with your kids could also be caused by water deficiency?

2) Maintains The Young-Looking Skin

Have you seen a prune? Remember it very carefully cause that;s what your skin is going to look like if you keep denying water to your body. Dehydration leads to dry skin, loss of colour, radiance and elasticity. This is probably one of the health benefits of drinking water that will have you reaching for that bottle of water immediately.

3) Elimination of waste and toxins

Find yourself dreading a visit to your bathroom everyday?
Sitting on the pot becoming a chore for you?
Constipation is also caused due to dehydration. And that isn't the only side effect.
The body also needs water to flush out all the unwanted toxins in it.
Deny it the daily quota of this liquid and you are going to have a one huge landfill site right there inside your body.

4) Aids Fat Metabolism
The role of the kidney is to get rid of the waste in the body. The liver, on the other hand, metabolizes fat. When there isn’t adequate amount of water in the body, the kidney dumps some of its responsibility on the liver. Which means, the liver, on its part, doesn’t do a great job of metabolizing fat. And where do you think all that fat is going to end up?

5. PREVENTS BRAIN DAMAGE

One of the most important health benefits of drinking water is its role in maintaining the health of the brain. The brain is a very delicate organ. Nearly 85% of it consists of water and dehydration is a very, very serious problem. That’s right – deny yourself the benefits of life giving water and you could end up with neurological disorders like Parkinson’s disease, Alzheimer, or Multiple Sclerosis.

6. MAINTAINS MUSCLE TONE

This clear liquid that most people take for granted also helps greatly in maintaining muscle tone. If you are into body building, you’ll need to pack in a lot of water, since it is beneficial in helping muscles contract. In addition, adequate water in the body reduces muscle pain and soreness that are typical after a workout.

7. REDUCES CHANCES OF A STROKE

In the event that you do not provide proper hydration to your body it can cause the blood to thicken. This, in turn, increases the chances of having a stroke and damaging the heart.

8. REGULATES BODY TEMPERATURE

You may hate feeling wet and sweaty but that’s the body’s way of maintaining temperature. A well hydrated body will be able to get rid of the excess heat and keep the body temperature at optimal level.
There you go – the top health benefits of drinking water. Doesn’t that make you want to go back in time and drink those 8 glasses of water every day, just like your mom told you to?
